Automotive Workforce Trends in Minnesota: A Data-Driven Analysis
Stratasight Research & Consulting (formally RealTime Talent) is proud to share a new workforce analysis developed in partnership with MNCARS focused on Minnesota’s Automotive Technology career pathway. The report explores current and projected talent demand, workforce demographics, wage trends, educational pipelines, and hiring challenges across the state — with a particular focus on automotive technicians and mechanics.
The research highlights a complex workforce picture. While overall employment in automotive technology is expected to remain relatively stable over the next five years, Minnesota employers are still projected to need approximately 7,200 workers due to job exits and transfers, such as retirements and job changes. The report also examines job posting trends, regional wage differences, technician shortages, and the capacity of Minnesota’s education and training programs to meet future workforce needs.
We’re especially grateful to MNCARS for their partnership and leadership in supporting data-informed workforce strategies for Minnesota’s automotive industry.
