Developed for the Minnesota Sustainable Plastics Innovation Regional Engine (M-SPIRE), these companion reports examine how well Minnesota’s education and workforce systems are positioned to support advanced manufacturing. The research focuses on Medical Technology, Semiconductor and Microelectronics Manufacturing, Sustainable Plastics Manufacturing, and Clean Technology.

The Skill Analysis identifies the occupations and skills employers need, including shared and specialized requirements across industries and education levels. The Program Crosswalk and Gap Analysis connects those workforce needs to Minnesota’s postsecondary programs, identifying talent shortages, award gaps, and opportunities to strengthen and diversify the future workforce. Together, the reports provide practical guidance for employers, educators, workforce organizations, and policymakers working to align talent development with industry demand.
